Rating Field Inspector, MI

SUMMARY:

Aeroseal is looking for a Rating Field Inspector, MI that will assist us in our mission by performing residential energy inspections, diagnostic testing, and quality assurance verification to support HERS ratings and code compliance. The RFI works closely with builders, contractors, and internal teams to evaluate building performance, identify deficiencies, and ensure homes meet energy efficiency standards.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

RESNET Rating Field Inspector (RFI) certification or ability to obtain

Experience in residential construction, HVAC, insulation, or energy efficiency

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects

Proficiency with tablets for field data entry

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Field-based role with frequent travel to job sites

Work performed in active residential construction environments

Ability to climb ladders, enter attics and crawlspaces

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions

Performance Expectations:

Accurate and timely completion of inspections and reports

Successful support of homes passing energy code and program requirements

Strong builder and client satisfaction

Adherence to RESNET standards and company quality expectations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct field inspections on residential construction projects at rough and final stages

Perform diagnostic testing including blower door (air leakage) and duct leakage testing

Inspect insulation installation, air sealing, and HVAC systems for compliance with energy codes and program requirements

Collect field data, measurements, and photo documentation for reporting and certification purposes

Prepare and submit inspection reports and documentation

Work directly with builders and subcontractors to identify, diagnose, and resolve performance issues Maintain inspection schedules and manage multiple active projects simultaneously

Testing & Inspection Scope:

Building air leakage measurement (blower door testing)

Duct leakage testing and airflow verification

Insulation and air barrier quality inspection

HVAC system performance verification

The estimated pay range for this role is $45,000 - $65,000. Actual pay is based on various factors including, but not limited to, the successful candidate's experience, skills, knowledge, and job location. Please note that the compensation details listed in role postings reflect the base salary and do not include bonuses or benefits.
