Job description

Hayward Holdings Inc. (NYSE "HAYW") is the largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment in the world, with a significant presence in the commercial pool market that is continuously growing. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. This position is based in North Kingstown,  Rhode Island. 

Sr Electrical Engineer-Hardware Test will manage all aspects of production testing and test equipment within Hayward’s Rhode Island facility. This includes designing, building, repairing and maintaining all production test hardware on the factory floor as well as providing proper training to test operators and periodically inspecting for necessary maintenance and improvements. The candidate will also be required to support robotics and mechatronics systems and interface with R&D on design changes.


  • Analyze and develop complete understanding of all circuits and functional blocks of consumer electronics products
  • Develop test specifications and requirements necessary to completely test products on high volume production lines, guaranteeing correct function of all circuits and functional blocks
  • Design test hardware and GUI applications which will perform tests as detailed in the test specification
  • Work with Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to develop safe, ergonomic, fault tolerant test equipment at ICT, subassembly and EOL levels
  • Coordinate with R&D to support new product releases and verify quality improvements to products
  • Debug and repair existing test hardware and software as required
  • Periodic Maintenance of test equipment as well as repair
  • Update existing documentation, create new test system design documentation, test procedures, and work instructions

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Hardware Test Engineer with responsibility for complete development of test platform from initial product specification to project completion
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analog electronics, circuit analysis, and development of GUI test applications for evaluating hardware required
  • Must have C and assembly language programming skills
  • Familiarity with Microchip PIC processors, Arduino Controllers, and Raspberry Pi Linux Computers a plus
  • Must be able to demonstrate Windows programming ability using a common object orientated language such as Delphi/Pascal, Python, C#
  • Knowledge of Embarcadero IDE’s a plus
  • Successful applicant should be able to develop test applications for circuit board manufacturing environment, utilizing custom designed ‘bed of nails’ test platforms as well as interfaces to off-the-shelf test equipment such as programmable power supplies, spectrum analyzers, DMM’s, HiPot and programmable loads
  • Experience in printed circuit board design using a schematic/CAD package such as Eagle, PCB123, KiCAD, or similar product a plus
  • Understanding of common communications protocols such as RS232, RS485, I2C, and SPI required
  • Familiarity with mechatronics and/or robotic platforms such as Universal Robotics, AUBO, Mecademic, Cartesian systems, stepper/servo drive systems a plus
