Job description

Job Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Packaging Lab Technician to support our Packaging Engineering team by maintaining lab operations, equipment, and materials, while enabling efficient execution of testing and development activities. This role is critical to ensuring the lab runs smoothly, equipment is calibrated and ready for use, and engineers are supported in delivering high-quality packaging solutions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working across a variety of lab equipment and prototyping tools.

A willingness to learn technical drawing tools (e.g., ArtiosCAD and SolidWorks) and contribute to documentation is strongly desired. Key Responsibilities Lab Operations & Equipment Management Maintain packaging lab functionality, cleanliness, and organization Ensure all lab equipment is calibrated, maintained, and in proper working condition Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate repairs as needed Manage preventative maintenance schedules and calibration records Ensure lab compliance with GMP and internal safety standards Contribute to continuous improvement of lab safety and processes Equipment & Prototyping Support Operate and maintain lab equipment including: 3D printers Label printers Cutting tables for paperboard and corrugate Metrology and measurement equipment Support rapid prototyping, mock-ups, and sample preparation for development programs (primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging) Testing Support Partner with Packaging Engineers to execute testing protocols Prepare test samples, run equipment, and document results Ensure testing materials and supplies are available and ready for use Inventory & Supply Management Manage lab inventory, including consumables and spare parts Order and replenish supplies to ensure uninterrupted lab operations Manage software, licenses and warranties of all lab equipment Organize storage areas and maintain clear inventory systems Project Intake & Tracking Develop and maintain a structured system for project intake and lab request tracking, including leading implementation through existing systems (e.g. SharePoint) Coordinate priorities with engineering team to ensure timely execution Track progress and communicate status of lab activities Documentation & Drawings Support maintenance of packaging component drawings and specifications Manage documentation of lab processes and SOPs Learn and utilize ArtiosCAD (or similar tools) to update and manage technical drawings Ensure documentation is organized, accurate, and accessible Total Rewards: $19.47 USD hourly - $24.80 USD hourly Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors Benefits, subject to eligibility, and collective bargaining agreements (where applicable): Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including vacation and sick time), 401k with company match, and Tuition Reimbursement
