School Bus Driver
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain CDL B license with Airbrake, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements. Must meet all of the educational requirements of the MDE. Must have current FMCSA Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing per DOT regulations.
  • Previous school bus driving experience necessary.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff and the public.
  • Ability to tolerate stressful situations.
  • Able to understand and have empathy for children and persons with disability.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation; including, among others, lifting or moving 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to read, reason and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • The driver person shall be under the general direction of and responsible to the Transportation Director.
  • Shall drive an assigned route in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for transportation of students; including all responsibilities connected to operating a school bus per all applicable district policies and state/federal laws.
  • Ability to relate to and work with parents, students, and other staff members.
  • Conduct all pre-trip inspections as required.
  • Follow and successfully respond to district rules and regulations.
  • Ability to manage and maintain all students on a bus in a calm and safe manner.
  • Shall perform all other duties necessary of a bus driver as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and the Transportation Director.
