Position Purpose

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in leading daily bakery operations to achieve sales, profitability, food safety, quality, and customer service objectives. This position assists with supervising bakery associates, maintaining production and merchandising standards, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized department.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations

• Assist in coordinating daily bakery production, packaging, and merchandising activities.
• Ensure bakery products are prepared, displayed, and replenished according to company standards.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiration dates to maintain food safety and presentation standards.
• Support execution of sales plans, seasonal promotions, and special merchandising programs.
• Assist with ordering, inventory control, and minimizing shrink through proper rotation and handling practices.

Customer Service

• Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a positive shopping experience.
• Address customer questions, requests, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Support custom cake orders and special requests while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Foster a customer-focused environment among bakery team members.

Leadership & Team Development

• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Provide direction and support to team members during daily operations.
• Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and support scheduling needs.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company policies.
• Assume leadership responsibilities in the Bakery Manager's absence.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Maintain department cleanliness and organization in accordance with company standards.
• Follow proper product handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures.
• Support workplace safety initiatives and help maintain a safe working environment.

Financial Performance

• Assist in achieving departmental sales, labor, and shrink goals.
• Monitor inventory levels and recommend actions to improve productivity and profitability.
• Support effective labor utilization and workflow planning.
• Contribute to meeting department performance objectives and operational metrics.
