Red Rock Ranch Management, LLC is a private family office providing financial, operational, and administrative services for multiple properties and related entities across the United States. We support a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses, investments, and family assets through thoughtful financial management, operational excellence, and a commitment to long-term stewardship.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to provide accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, bookkeeping, and treasury management support to the Chief Financial Officer.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Tax Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for supporting accounting operations across multiple entities and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working independently, managing complex financial information, and taking ownership of accounting and tax-related responsibilities.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, tax preparation experience, sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with company leadership, support a diverse portfolio of entities, and contribute to process improvements that enhance financial operations and organizational efficiency.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining in-person work in Bozeman, Montana with remote flexibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Preparation & Compliance

  • Prepare and assist with tax filings for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, nonprofit entities, and other related organizations.
  • Utilize tax preparation software to complete assigned tax compliance activities.
  • Prepare annual 1099 forms and related reporting requirements.
  • Research tax-related questions and assist with compliance matters.
  • Maintain organized tax records and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and professionals as needed.

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Perform full-cycle accounting activities for multiple entities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and account analyses.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany transactions, and other assigned accounts.
  • Record and reconcile fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and related documentation.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.

Treasury & Banking Management

  • Manage banking platforms and support daily treasury operations.
  • Process bank deposits, transfers, and other treasury transactions.
  • Monitor, research, and resolve positive pay exceptions and banking discrepancies.
  • Assist with fraud prevention controls and banking portal administration.
  • Reconcile merchant card transactions and investigate variances.
  • Research and respond to outstanding check inquiries.

Accounts Payable & Payroll Support

  • Review, code, and process accounts payable invoices and expense reports.
  • Process payroll and employee expenses through Paylocity.
  • Maintain vendor records and assist with vendor onboarding.
  • Document, track, and resolve credit card disputes.
  • Support accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Utilize and maintain financial systems, including:
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • QuickBooks Online
  • Paylocity
  • SharePoint
  • Bank of America CashPro
  • Learn and effectively utilize new software applications and technology solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing individual, small business, partnership, or nonprofit tax returns.
  • Experience with treasury functions, banking platforms, and financial controls.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and deliver accurate results.

Preferred:

  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience working in a family office, private company, or multi-entity environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and tax preparation software.
  • Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, or privately held entities.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
