Job description

The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project - the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA).
The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the T&C department
  • Deliver the T&C works, in collaboration with other RLE systems teams.
  • Report on T&C activities and progress
  • Develop, and adapt T&C program according to project progress and constraints
  • Liaise with the Systems construction Manager for smooth and effective transition from Installation to T&C stage
  • Recruit and manage T&C resources according to project priorities
  • Accountable for T&C related deliverables, including:
    • Development and updates of the T&C management plan(s)
    • Development of the Testing and commissioning principles of greenfield systems and coordinate the development of the associated deliverables with other RLE departments.
    • Develop the system integration and migration principles with brown field systems, and coordinate the development of the associated deliverables (within RLE project scope)
    • Review and approve, where applicable, suppliers' deliverables relevant to T&C
    • Manage the software configuration for the project
  • Support to the System Engineering works, including:
    • Support the verification and validate works, such as system definition, requirements definition for Verification and Validation purpose, system configuration and changes, system interfaces.
    • Verify the subsystems against functional requirements (i.e. testable), and provide evidence, in collaboration with other RLE systems teams.
    • Validate the RLE system functionalities against functional requirements (i.e. testable) and provide evidence, in collaboration with other RLE systems teams.
    • Validate External system interfaces with other contracts and stakeholders (within RLE project scope)
    • Liaise with Safety and Certification Manager to provide validation evidence to the safety cases (within RLE project scope)

Salary Range:

Key Requirements:
  • 15+ years in various systems engineering, delivery, testing, and integration projects.
  • 10 to 15 years' experience minimum in similar position
  • Engineering - System Engineering: Experience in working under Engineering processes, managing various System Engineering works (EN50126)
  • Testing and Commissioning (T&C): Verification and Validation of railway systems/station systems (EN50126)
  • System Assurance including Safety case: Experience in Safety assurance, RAMS, FMECA and safety cases.
  • Site construction: Experience in managing installation and testing teams on different sites for different sub systems
  • Railway Safety: Experience in Railway Safety operations and interventions on an operational Railway (Site and Control Centre)
  • Software validation (SCADA and Coms): Developed System Integration and validation of Systems. Simulation and integration platform would be a plus

Work Environment:
  • Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment.
  • Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols in construction sites
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Walking and standing while in-office or on-site.
  • Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect.
