Job description

Terminal Manager - Railcar Repair Operations
Location: Loudon, Tennessee
Job Type: Full-time, On-Site
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Schedule: Flexible availability required, including occasional weekends, holidays, and after-hours support as operational needs require
Hands-On Leadership. Welding Experience Required.
Road & Rail Services is hiring a Terminal Manager to lead our railcar repair operation in Loudon, Tennessee.
This is currently a small, two-person site with plans for growth, so we need someone who is comfortable being both the manager and part of the operation. You will lead the site, work directly with the customer, handle reporting and administrative responsibilities, and step into the field when the work requires it.
Because this is a small working site, the Terminal Manager must be able to step into welding and repair work when needed, not just supervise it.
If you are looking for a position where you can sit behind a desk all day and simply assign work, this is probably not the right fit. We need someone who understands repair work, can lead from the front, and wants the opportunity to help grow an operation.
What You'll Do
The Terminal Manager is responsible for the overall safety, service, and performance of the Loudon operation.
Lead daily railcar inspection, welding, maintenance, and repair activity while working alongside the site repairman when needed
Manage scheduling, work assignments, customer communication, reporting, repair documentation, billing support, materials, and equipment needs
Ensure work is completed safely and meets company, customer, railroad, and applicable regulatory requirements
Build a strong customer relationship, identify additional service opportunities, and support the long-term growth of the Loudon operation
What We're Looking For
This position requires someone who understands both the mechanical side of the work and the responsibility that comes with running a site.
Hands-on welding experience is required, along with a strong mechanical background and the ability to perform or oversee repair and fabrication work
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a rail, industrial, mechanical, maintenance, transportation, or similar operation
Railcar repair or railroad maintenance experience is strongly preferred
Ability to work independently, communicate professionally with customers, stay organized, and manage the administrative side of the operation
The Work Environment
This is an active industrial leadership position. The Terminal Manager will spend time both handling site administration and working outdoors around rail equipment.
The job may require bending, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, working around active rail equipment, and working in heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise. Required PPE must be worn while working in operational areas.
Why Road & Rail Services?
Road & Rail Services offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid holidays and vacation, an annual steel-toe boot allowance, company-provided PPE, and opportunities for advancement.
This role also offers something a little different: the opportunity to take ownership of a small operation and help build it. As customer needs and business opportunities grow, we want the Loudon site to grow with them.
About Us
Since 1987, Road & Rail Services has provided rail-related operations, maintenance, and logistics support throughout North America. Our teams support railroads, rail shippers, industrial facilities, and owners of rail equipment with a focus on safety, quality, and dependable service.
If you are an experienced hands-on leader with welding experience, a strong repair background, and the ability to take ownership of a growing operation, apply today for the Terminal Manager - Railcar Repair Operations position in Loudon, Tennessee.
