WRA is seeking talented transportation analyst professionals with expertise in transportation planning, travel demand modeling, freight planning, emerging technologies, and advanced analytics. Our team collaborates across disciplines to deliver innovative, data-driven transportation solutions for a wide variety of planning and engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

Job functions:
  • Support transportation systems management and operations, advanced technology, traffic operations, transportation planning, and freight mobility projects through the use of a combination of tools:
    • travel demand modeling
    • traffic operations modeling
    • systems engineering
    • stakeholder outreach and engagement
    • advanced data analytics
  • Conduct freight transportation planning studies to support multimodal transportation, freight mobility, supply chain, and logistics planning initiatives.
  • Analyze multimodal mobility using large and emerging transportation datasets to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improving system performance
  • Develop traffic forecasts, origin-destination analyses, commodity flow assessments, truck parking evaluations, and transportation network performance measures.
  • Support freight modeling and analytics, including logistics optimization, network analysis, and scenario evaluation.
  • Assist in developing technical reports, public-facing transportation plans, data visualizations, GIS products, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver freight planning, transportation planning, travel demand modeling, traffic operations, and mobility projects.
Project assignments
  • Project assignments may include statewide, regional, corridor, port, airport, rail, intermodal, and last-mile freight modeling and planning studies.
  • Responsibilities may include processing and integrating large multimodal datasets, developing decision-support tools, conducting statistical analyses, and supporting freight, transportation modeling, and ITS planning initiatives.

Analysis may include all modes of travel for people and goods (street, highway, air, rail, seaport, and emerging modes such as drone delivery) for urban, suburban, and rural environments. Analysis may also include processing big and emerging transportation data sources such as connected vehicle or probe data.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Freight Transportation, Data Science, Planning, or a related field.
  • 0 – 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python or R for data processing and analytics.
  • Coursework or experience planning for and evaluating multimodal transportation systems for people and freight including street, highway, rail, port, airport, pipeline, and intermodal freight operations.
  • Coursework or experience regarding the application of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and travel demand modeling principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Requirements:

  • General understanding of freight transportation planning, logistics, and supply chain principles.
  • Practical experience with VISUM & VISSIM
  • General understanding of travel demand modeling and transportation forecasting principles.
  • Familiarity with multimodal transportation data sources such as RITIS, INRIX, StreetLight, HERE, FAF, TRANSEARCH, ATRI, Geotab, BTS Freight Analysis Framework, port and rail datasets, and Census Freight-related data.
  • Experience processing, integrating, and analyzing large transportation datasets using statistical and data analytics techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization methods.
  • Familiarity with freight demand forecasting, origin-destination analysis, commodity flow analysis, and freight performance measurement.
  • Understanding of network optimization concepts related to freight transportation, logistics, routing, distribution, and supply chain analysis.
  • Working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS Pro/QGIS) and spatial analysis.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database management is desirable.
  • Open to learning and applying emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics to freight planning and transportation decision-making.
