In the role of Traffic EIT, we'll count on you to: * Support traffic engineering design and analysis for municipal and transit projects * Assist with corridor traffic analysis, intersection operations, and signal timing studies * Support preparation of traffic signal, ITS, signing/striping, and MOT/TCP design plans * Perform traffic data collection, QA/QC, and technical analysis tasks * Assist with traffic simulation and operational modeling efforts * Prepare technical reports, exhibits, figures, and project documentation * Coordinate with project teams and support client meeting preparation * Support project delivery for local agency and transit clients including Sound Transit and local municipalities * Assist senior staff with project coordination, field reviews, and construction support activities * Support development of traffic studies, operational analyses, and multimodal improvement concepts * Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects * Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments * Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS) * Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications * Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD and MicroStation * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field * Interest in traffic engineering, traffic operations, and transportation planning * Familiarity with traffic analysis and design software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, or VISSIM preferred * Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams * Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn * Interest in municipal and transit-related transportation projects * Experience with data analysis, GIS, or technical report preparation is a plus * Ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a fast-paced consulting environment Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree * Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate * Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software * Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun * Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software * Strong verbal and written skills * Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once * An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
