Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Rail/Track Engineer - Civil  for employment within the New England region. Here you will have the opportunity to work side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US. delivering projects for transit clients with a focus on commuter, freight, short-line and class one rail.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepares technical specification sections
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
  • Perform civil design on a variety of rail/transit projects
  • Preparation of design documents
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates and project schedules
  • Prepare technical reports and analyses
  • Develops estimates for the track engineering budgets
  • Assists in determining schedules to perform track work
  • Coordinates with multiple departments related to a projects scope of work
  • Develop Procurement specifications
  • Perform field track inspections and develop criteria and testing requirements
  • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- large size projects
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for specific area of expertise
  • Reviews and approves track designs prepared by others
  • Oversee and manage work within the ROW for multiple projects
  • Work with other track staff to manage projects on the east coast and around the country
  • Mentor staff
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or related +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with commuter, shortline, freight, transit, and class-one rail projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE), MA License
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRail/Power Rail, Microstation
  • Knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit criteria
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Good client relations experience
  • Ability to lead meetings related to track
  • Local to Massachusetts
