Job description

Now Hiring working at Norfolk Southern’s Rutherford Rail Terminal in Harrisburg, PA.

Ready to start a hands-on career in a fast-paced, recession-proof industry? Join Pacific Rail Services as an Entry-Level Rail Yard Operator and become part of a team that keeps America moving. No CDL? No problem. We provide full training—just bring your drive and determination.
This opportunity is for the Rutherford location only. Pay and benefits may vary at other sites.

What You’ll Earn:
  • Start at 20.50 per hour.
  • Overtime pays 30.75 per hour.
  • After one year: 22.44 per hour.
  • Annual earning potential: 55,000 to 70,000 with overtime.

Your Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts with possible 4-hour holdover (up to 12 hours total).
  • Current shift start times: 6 PM and 10 PM.
  • Weekends and holidays required.
What You’ll Do:
  • Drive jockey trucks to move trailers, containers, and chassis.
  • Climb railcars, secure tracks, and handle connectors.
  • Assist crane operators with hand signals.
  • Stack and unstack chassis, load and unload racks.
  • Work as part of a team to keep the yard running smoothly.

  • Must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license.
  • Pass a 7-year background check.
  • Pass drug test and physical capabilities test.
  • No diploma or GED required.
