Radiology Tech - Diagnostic Radiologic Tech
Position Overview
The Diagnostic Radiologic Tech performs a range of diagnostic radiologic procedures, including conventional radiography and targeted imaging, to support accurate clinical assessment. The role operates in hospital or outpatient imaging environments and emphasizes image quality and patient safety.
Key duties include equipment setup, patient positioning, exposure selection, and collaboration with radiologists and clinicians to meet diagnostic needs. Documentation and safety compliance are integral parts of the role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic radiologic examinations across body parts per orders
- Position patients and select appropriate exposure parameters to optimize image quality
- Prepare and maintain imaging equipment and room readiness
- Ensure accurate patient identification, exam labeling, and image transfer to PACS
- Apply radiation safety principles and shielding as appropriate
- Coordinate with radiologists and care teams to clarify orders and findings
- Document procedures, findings, and any deviations in the EMR
- Assist with patient comfort and throughput in a busy imaging environment
Qualifications
Education:
Associate degree in Radiologic Technology; bachelor's degree preferred.
Licensure:
State licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist, as required by state law.
Certifications:
- ARRT Certification in Radiography (R)
- CPR/BLS
Experience or Skills:
Experience in diagnostic radiography within hospital or outpatient settings; familiarity with digital systems and image QA processes.
Experience
- Experience performing diagnostic radiographs in varied clinical settings
- Experience using RIS/PACS and EMR documentation
- Experience maintaining image quality standards and safety
Preferred
- Fluoroscopy or portable radiography experience
- Comfort with multi-modality imaging environments
Work Environment
Imaging department with collaboration across clinical teams. Roles include fast-paced patient care, shift rotations, and documentation in the EMR.
Emphasis on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; occasional on-call coverage may be required.
Work to ensure patients receive timely, accurate imaging results while maintaining compassionate patient interactions.
