Job description

Position Summary

Acuren is looking for experienced RSO/QHSE to support our operation in Denver, CO. 

The Radiation Safety Officer/QAQC works with all levels of the organization to ensure the delivery of world-class quality services to the region's clients. This position will work closely with the Division Managers and Operations Managers to ensure that corporate goals and objectives for the radiation programs are met. 

The RSO II / QHSEindependently administers radiation safety activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. This role oversees radiation monitoring programs, evaluates exposure data, investigates incidents, and recommends corrective actions. The RSO II maintains licensing documentation, coordinates training programs, and provides technical guidance to staff handling radioactive materials. This intermediate position requires a strong understanding of radiation physics, safety standards, and regulatory reporting, with the ability to work with limited supervision and assist in program development and audits. 

The ideal candidate will be multi-certed in MT, PT, UT, RT

Additional experience with CR, DR, and PAUT is a plus

Experience in NAS 410, ISO-17025, and ISO-9001 standards.

We are currently seeking local candidates based in Denver and/OR Commerce City, Colorado or surrounding area. While we welcome applications from all qualified individuals, local candidates are preferred due to the nature of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Provide resources to ensure we use appropriate safety equipment, carry out radiation safety training where required, and to conduct radiation safety audits on a regular basis.
  • Ensure compliance with Radiation Safety and environmental programs. Ensure compliance has been achieved and maintained at the respective Acuren facility relative to DOT and IATA regulations.
  • Audit on-the-job radiation safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance and corrective actions when required are implemented.
  • Monitor radiographic operations and the use of all procedures in the specific area of responsibility through audits, inspections, and other oversight techniques.
  • Provides training and guidance in the adherence of the radiation safety program in the local office.
  • Hands on training for 40-hour Rad. Safety for A/R's.
  • Shipping & handling of sources and source retrieval.
  • Quarterly inspection of cranks and guide tube quarterly, cranks to be sent out annually.
  • Calibration of the Dosimetry and survey meters.
  • Manage RSO duties for one office.
  • May perform radiography in the field as needed.
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Multi-certed in MT, PT, UT, RT

    Additional experience with CR, DR, and PAUT is a plus

  • Familiarity in NAS-410, ISO-17025, and ISO-9001 standards.

  • Must be familiar with the applicable License(s), the Operating and Emergency Manual (ROEM), NRC and applicable State Regulations, and with appropriate sections of 49 CFR Transportation. 
  • Four (4) years full time Radiographer.
  • Must have received training in source retrieval and equipment maintenance.
  • Must have received training on establishing and maintaining a Radiation Protection Program
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time Radiography experience.
  • Must meet the qualifications of RSO, including experience in source retrieval and equipment maintenance.
  • Corporate RSOs who have not met the two-year full-time radiographer requirement may submit alternative qualifications demonstrating their training and experience in radiation safety programs
