Job description

Coordinates and facilitates the radiation safety program including radiation and medical physics duties and for all appropriate areas of hospital in accordance with the highest standards of radiation protection practice as required by regulatory agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinates professional radiation physics and radiation protection safety program to provide the highest excellence in patient care to patients by coordinating and interacting with appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation, and periodic review of policies, procedures, and programs in radiation physics and radiation safety as required by the State Department of Radiological Health to facilitate safe and appropriate use of radiation while minimizing radiation exposures to patients and personnel.
  • Assesses learning needs and coordinates radiation safety educational programs to address all areas of the hospital and serves on committees that promote continuous improvement and compliance with radiation safety standards.
  • Facilitates a comprehensive quality control and audit program in all radiation areas and nuclear medicine under the supervision of the Director of Radiology and RSO, and interacts with department managers and other appropriate personnel to ensure adequate and timely corrective actions and monitoring.
  • Assist with physics inspection and report creation of imaging equipment.
  • Organizes files and maintains all radiation physics, radiation safety, radiation audits, and equipment inspection records to ensure compliance with standards of Joint Commission and of State and Federal regulatory agencies.
  • Assists BMH Metro Hospitals, BMH Regional Hospitals, Baptist College of Health Sciences, and TN Baptist Medical Group as necessary by providing support to ensure compliance with radiation safety program and regulatory compliance.
  • Completes all assigned goals.
