Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role works on the warehouse side of a production facility, where you will primarily operate a stand-up forklift to move, rack, and load pallets of packaged products. You will palletize boxes, wrap finished pallets, load and unload docked trailers, and use a warehouse management system to pull customer orders and receive inbound shipments. You will spend approximately 70–80% of your shift on a forklift, supporting efficient and accurate movement of inventory throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate a stand-up forklift for approximately 70–80% of the shift to move, stack, and transport pallets of packaged products.
• Palletize boxes after they have been packaged in the production facility, ensuring pallets are stable and properly wrapped.
• Rack large skids in tall racking systems with attention to safety, accuracy, and efficient use of warehouse space.
• Load and unload docked trailers using a stand-up forklift, following established loading patterns and safety guidelines.
• Pull customer orders accurately from racking locations using the warehouse management system and RF scanner.
• Receive inbound orders, verify quantities and product information, and record data accurately in the warehouse management system.
• Use RF scanners and basic computer functions to track inventory, update order status, and maintain accurate stock records.
• Handle materials safely, including lifting boxes weighing approximately 10–20 lbs as needed.
• Adhere to all PPE requirements, including wearing steel-toe footwear and facility-issued protective gear.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly addressing or reporting any hazards or equipment issues.
• Work a consistent night shift schedule and complete the required two-week day-shift training period.
• Stand and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods, supporting continuous operations over a 12-hour shift as needed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of stand-up forklift experience on Crown brand equipment, preferably as a dock stocker or reach truck operator, or 3+ years of experience operating a standard Raymond reach truck or dockstocker.
• Proficiency operating stand-up forklifts in a racked warehouse environment with tall racking systems.
• Experience with loading and unloading trailers using a forklift.
• Material handling experience, including palletizing and wrapping pallets.
• Ability to lift and handle boxes weighing approximately 10–20 lbs safely and repeatedly.
• Basic computer literacy and prior experience working with a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Experience using RF scanners for inventory control, order picking, and receiving.
• Inventory experience, including counting, tracking, and verifying stock.
• Ability to stand and remain on your feet for up to 12 hours.
• Ability to follow detailed safety, cleanliness, and food-handling procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing warehouse that is kept exceptionally tidy and well organized. You will work the night shift from approximately 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with one 30-minute break, and you will complete a two-week training period on the day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role requires standing for long periods, frequent movement around the warehouse, and regular use of stand-up forklifts and RF scanners. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the PPE, and additional protective attire is provided by the facility to maintain food safety standards.
