The CNP Technologist role is part of our multi-skilled Neurodiagnostic team, performing procedures including Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials, Autonomic Testing, and/or Nerve Conduction Studies. Our technologists ensure exceptional patient preparation, accurate data acquisition, and a safe, high-quality testing environment. The technologist is responsible for performing routine, ambulatory, and prolonged EEG studies for patients of all ages in an inpatient setting. This role will support patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) as well as patients in other inpatient settings. This role requires adaptability to rapidly changing environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The technologist is expected to apply best practices and clinical expertise to tailor studies to each patient's unique needs.
Key responsibilities include accurate patient preparation, high-quality data acquisition, and maintaining a safe testing environment. Competency in neurodiagnostic procedural testing is essential, including electrode application for adult and pediatric EEGs using the standard 10-20 or 10-10 systems.
Additional duties include monitoring and maintaining EEG recordings for surgical, adult, and pediatric patients, responding to seizures, troubleshooting equipment, assisting with SPECT injections, and providing shift reports on relevant patient information. Acting as a liaison between nurses and physicians, the EEG Technologist ensures effective communication and collaboration to support patient care. The technologist will also mentor student technologists rotating through the inpatient practice.
Qualifications
Tech I: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited institution for neurodiagnostic technology or 2 years equivalent neurodiagnostic tech experience. Associate's degree preferred.
Requirements:
  • Within two years of employment, specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.) is required in the laboratory of hire.
  • The Registry Examination should be attempted as soon as the employee is eligible.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support.

Tech II: High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of Neurodiagnostics experience. Associate's degree preferred.
Requirements:
  • Must be a current Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to apply. Registries include specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support.

Tech III: High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of Neurodiagnostics experience. Associate's degree preferred.
Requirements:
  • Must be a current Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist and have two of the following registries or meet qualifications outlined below for one registry.
    • Registries include specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP). American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.).
    • One registry and:
      • Minimum five years neurodiagnostic inpatient experience OR
        Minimum ten years neurodiagnostic experience (outpatient and/or inpatient) OR
        Hired into this job description prior to 2002
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support.
