Job description

JOB SUMMARY

A Field Laborer’s main responsibility is to assist the team in the installation and repair of underground utility infrastructure. They will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks to support their team’s safety and goals on the construction site.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Exemplify our Core Values: Protect, Perform, Positivity, Pride, and Prosperity
  • Observe operators from excavation to assist them in safely digging around existing utilities
  • Use hand tools to dig around existing utilities to prevent damage
  • Set up work zones for crews to complete tasks and enhance safety measures
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site free from unnecessary hazards
  • Unload and inventory materials
  • Perform Driver’s Vehicle Inspections and cleaning on vehicles and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Ability to be a team player with a cando attitude
  • Withstand the climate yearround
  • Insurable Driver’s License
  • Pass DOT drugtesting and DOT physical
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Ability to adhere to safety expectations set by OSHA and client/company standards
  • Ability to complete computerbased and handson training once hired
  • Willingness to travel out of town if necessary
  • PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of manual labor experience, preferably outside in the elements
  • 1 year of underground utility experience, preferably natural gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, or electric
  • Class A CDL
  • Previously held Operator Qualifications trainings
  • WORK ENVIROMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    This position is mostly outside, doing strenuous work in the elements. Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 7am to 5/6pm. Some Saturdays may be required. Overtime opportunities may be available. Overtime is classified as anything over 40 hours a week. Travel is dependent on that specific contracted job.
