Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, and debugs software applications, contributes to software builds, completes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality standards with guidance, supports and monitors software across environments, and adheres to security and regulatory best practices.
Responsibilities
  • Designs, develops, tests, and debugs software applications and systems
  • Completes software builds through consistent development practices, including the use of tools, common components, and documentation with guidance from peers and leaders
  • Completes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality code standards with guidance from peers and leaders
  • Supports and monitors software across test, integration, and production environments
  • Adheres to security and regulatory best practices to ensure software compliance
  • Collaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives

Qualifications
  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.
  • Significant hands-on experience in application architecture / design, software development, and testing, preferably in an Agile environment within a professional environment.
  • 12+ years of proven experience using Java, Ab Initio, React, Spring, Spark, Kafka, Postgres, Ignite, Restful APIs, In-Memory Computing.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and component-based architecture
  • Hands-on experience with full stack development using Node.js, Java, Python, or similar backend technologies
  • Experience building responsive, user-friendly web applications with modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
  • Experience with all aspects of DevOps with ability to customize the pipeline based on product needs
  • Strong engineering and professional leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, partner, and collaborate multi-functionally across many engineering teams.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
