We have 93 quarries and 56 asphalt plants across Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Virginia.
Rogers Group is currently seeking a Quarry Utility Worker for our Jacks Mountain Quarry located in Glade Hill, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment and maintaining a safe designated work area.
Job Details
  • Must possess the ability to operate skid loaders, heavy duty off-road, earth or rock moving equipment (such as rigid frame/articulated haul units, off-road haul trucks, and/or wheel loaders), and other pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Be able to perform preventative maintenance such as greasing and clean-up; and know basic functions of various types of heavy equipment.
  • Pre-shift each equipment that is used every day.
  • Abide by all company safety guidelines.
  • Maintain adequate guarding at and around all pinch points.
  • Knowing the basic functions of each piece of heavy equipment that is being used and job duty that is being performed.
  • Knowing proper berm heights and maintaining them as needed.

Wages starting at$18.00/hr. for entry level candidates. Some positions require no experience and Rogers Group will train. Higher pay for skilled operators of heavy equipment with quarry and mining experience. Overtime available and extensive medical and retirement benefits.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience working in a rock quarry is preferred.
  • Some experience with using a cutting torch and welder is preferred.
  • Some experience with operating smaller pieces of equipment.
  • Ability to operate skid loader and other pieces of heavy equipment
  • Ability to use cutting torch and welder
  • Ability to work well with peers and management in all situations.
  • Ability to maintain good time managementAbility to multi-task
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must have excellent communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, climbing on equipment, working at heights up to 350 feet, repetitive motion, and squatting - all for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours) to perform the essential functions.
  • Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 50 hours a week and overtime as dictated by production demands.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Working Conditions
  • Must work outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, dust, and wet a minimum of 8 hours per day. Work in high noise level areas while wearing proper PPE. May have exposure to dust, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc.
