Job description
Intel Corporation is the world's largest semiconductor company and a global leader in computing innovation. Our Quantum Computing Group represents Intel's bold venture into the next frontier of computing technology, leveraging our decades of semiconductor manufacturing expertise to develop silicon-based quantum processors. We're pioneering spin qubit technology in silicon quantum dots, combining cutting-edge quantum physics with Intel's unmatched manufacturing capabilities to create the world's first commercially viable quantum computers. Our collaborative approach spans Intel's research divisions and partnerships with leading academic institutions worldwide.
We are seeking an exceptional PhD-level Quantum Device Measurement Engineer to join our pioneering quantum computing team in Oregon. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of fundamental quantum physics and practical semiconductor technology, characterizing silicon spin qubits at millikelvin temperatures using state-of-the-art dilution refrigerators. You'll play a crucial role in advancing Intel's silicon quantum dot technology while contributing to the development of scalable quantum systems that will revolutionize computing.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute innovative quantum device measurement experiments to characterize silicon spin qubits
Perform hands-on electrical measurements using dilution refrigerators and cryogenic systems at millikelvin temperatures
Analyze quantum device performance data and develop predictive models for device optimization
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including device fabrication, software development, and systems integration
Develop efficient device testing and verification methodologies for quantum processors
Study quantum phenomena including coherence times, fidelity measurements, quantum gates, and error characterization
Propose and implement breakthrough ideas to accelerate Intel's quantum computing roadmap
Maintain partnerships with external research groups and academic institutions
Communicate research findings through publications, presentations, and technical reports
Stay current with the latest developments in quantum computing technology and measurement techniques
As a successful candidate, you must possess
Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Keen experimental insight with the ability to design and focus on critical experiments
High motivation and enthusiasm for self-directed, hands-on research work
Creativity and flexibility to thrive under changing priorities and evolving program needs
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively across diverse teams
Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, innovative research environment
Leadership potential to drive independent research initiatives
Passion for pushing the boundaries of quantum technology development
Join Intel's Quantum Computing Group and be part of a team that's not just researching quantum computing - we're building it. If you're passionate about combining cutting-edge quantum physics with real-world applications and want to work with the resources and expertise of the world's leading semiconductor company, we want to hear from you. Apply today and discover your place in our world-changing work.
