Overview:

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining data delivery solutions that support operational data reporting, including datasets, extracts, reports, and dashboards. This role will contribute to the design, testing, optimization, and support of critical data pipelines across multiple technical environments within various business functions in support of GEICO's operational data reporting. As a member of an agile team, the incumbent assists with testing, validation, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-implementation support. This includes writing code that builds datasets, metrics, and data needed for our business partners, while collaborating with peers and stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong foundation in modern data architecture concepts such as data warehouses, data marts, data lakes,lakehouses, and related data delivery patterns.

  • Design efficient, scalable data models and data delivery solutions for complex projects, with guidance from architecture and leadership teams as needed.

  • Recommend practical data delivery technologies and approaches that improve maintainability, performance, and usability.

  • Proficiently execute all phases of development for automated data delivery processes supporting reporting and dashboards using ETL/ELT tools such asdbt, Azure Data Factory, or related technologies.

  • Apply advanced SQL skills to write, debug, optimize, and maintain queries and data pipelines.

  • Use strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Support the migration of existing SAS solutions to technologies used widely at GEICO, such asdbtand Power BI.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement data models and architectures that support client projects and initiatives.

  • Perform and automate daily maintenance processes.

  • Assist with data and database migrations, testing, and validation.

  • Contribute to team-level development standards and best practices, including documentation, modularization, testing, and code review expectations.

  • Promote a culture of continuous refinement of capabilities and processes.

  • Assist with project and time management, including estimates, status reporting, and coordination with stakeholders.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and performance tuning for data pipelines, queries, and reporting datasets.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient developing data pipelines utilizingdbt, GitHub and Airflow, or similar technologies

  • Must be able to work both independently and in a teamenvironment

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Must have the following experience:

    • Relevant work experience of 5+ years required

    • Property & Casualty (P&C) claims data/analytics experience or any P&C insurance industry experience

    • Hybrid work requirement: location specific

Location:

This position is a hybrid role. It is required to be on-site 3 days per week at one of the following office locations: Bethesda MD, Lakeland FL, Tampa Fl, Chicago IL, Buffalo NY, Melville NY, New York (Manhattan) NY, Virginia Beach VA.

Annual Salary:

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
