Job description

Summary of Job

Enable better, faster, and more confident decisions by translating complex financial, clinical, and operational data into clear insights that inform strategy, product choices, and performance management for all Commercial Business to Business lines of businesses (non-City LG HMO / Pro / Retro, ASO, Dental).  Architect and deliver enterprise-grade dashboards, KPI's, forecasting models, reporting tools and analyses that give visibility into product, sales, and financial performance.  Partner with product, sales, marketing and finance to design reporting and membership forecasting that aligns to decision-making needs. Ensure that P&L leadership, marketing leadership and sales leadership has the insight that is required to manage the businesses / functional areas effectively.  

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement standardized dashboards and scorecards across all Commercial B2B lines of businesses (non-City LG HMO / Pro / Retro, ASO, Dental).

  • Build MVP versions of reports in Tableau, Excel, Power BI to extract insights; monitor project outcomes and utilize appropriate measures to determine level of success. 
  • Keep a small set of curated views aligned to leadership questions; handle recurring data extracts and ad-hoc requests to support senior leaders with visuals and analyses. 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, BI, data science and finance to connect data sources and validate reporting logic. 
  • Develop a cadence of reporting and performance reviews to support decision-making (in partnership with other team members). 
  • Translate complex business questions into analytical specs and data visualizations. 
  • Build, maintain and enhance various membership, growth and other models that can facilitate business strategy implementation and impact (e.g. membership projection, funnel pipeline). 
  • Ensure explicit linkage between outlook and assumptions; work with segment / other leaders to gather updated assumptions. 
  • Perform scenario / sensitivity analyses to express and pressure test quantitative impact of various strategies. 
  • Design, develop, lead, implement and communicate analyses, insights and results. 
  • Serve as the strategic advisor to the leadership on business data structure & availability (Enterprise Data Warehouse), data feeds, data gaps, and department use of data.  
  • Ensure best datasets and user tools are being leveraged to suit specific needs (e.g. SQL Server, SAS, Excel). 
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and application functionality enhancement. Oversee quality assurance for business owned / developed applications. 
  • Ensure standards are adhered for all department data to secure sensitive data. 
  • Remain abreast of AI / IT trends and their applicability to corporate systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, business, finance, or related field. 
  • Master's degree, MBA  (Preferred) 
  • Project Management certification  (Preferred)
  • 10 - 12+ years of relevant professional work experience, preferably in a health care environment  (Required) 
  • Expertise in utilizing data, analytics, and insights to reduce cycle time, technology debt, and other measures of efficacy related to product/process turnaround  (Required) 
  • Proven track record of building/scaling reporting/insights capabilities within payer organizations  (Required) 
  • Proven track record of successfully completing multiple large-scale projects  (Required)
  •  Ability to program using SQL and general SQL Database knowledge  (Required)
  • Advanced expertise with MS Office (Excel, Access) - for data manipulation, analyses, and front-end tool development  (Required) 
  • Experience with data discovery, validation, Quality Assurance  (Required) 
  • Competence/knowledge of reporting tools / programming languages - SAS, Python, Power BI, Tableau  (Required) 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audience  (Required)
