Job Description Summary

Join a team developing innovative financing solutions for some of the most complex public infrastructure and nonprofit projects in the United States. Working directly with senior bankers, you will help structure and execute complex financings while developing sophisticated financial models that evaluate debt capacity, project feasibility, capital structures, and long-term project performance.
This unique role sits at the intersection of financial engineering and investment banking, combining advanced quantitative modeling capital markets financing. You will help design innovative financing structures that expand access to capital for public agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and other public-purpose borrowers.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own significant portions of financial analyses and transaction workstreams while partnering directly with senior bankers to solve complex financing challenges and develop innovative capital solutions for clients.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated Excel-based financial models used to evaluate debt capacity, project feasibility, financing alternatives, capital structures, long-term cash flow performance, and asset sales.
  • Build and analyze complex financing models incorporating multiple debt instruments, layered capital structures, cash flow waterfalls, credit enhancement features, and alternative financing scenarios.
  • Design and evaluate innovative financing structures that improve access to capital for governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and other public-purpose borrowers.
  • Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, optimization modeling, and other quantitative analyses to evaluate financing alternatives.
  • Prepare presentations, financing proposals, and analytical materials used to evaluate and communicate financing alternatives.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-assisted analytical tools, and emerging technologies to improve modeling efficiency and analytical workflows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Quantitative Economics, Operations Research, or another highly quantitative discipline.
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated experience building sophisticated financial or quantitative models.
  • Strong quantitative reasoning, mathematical aptitude, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to quickly understand, audit, modify, and enhance complex existing financial models.
  • Experience with optimization techniques (including linear optimization or mathematical programming) is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted analytical tools and the ability to effectively incorporate emerging technologies into quantitative workflows.
  • Programming experience in Python, VBA or similar analytical languages is beneficial but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to analytical accuracy.

Experience

Prior experience in public finance, project finance, structured finance, investment banking, quantitative finance, engineering, or another analytical field is preferred but not required. We recognize that exceptional analytical talent comes from many disciplines. Candidates with outstanding analytical ability, demonstrated financial modeling skills, and a passion for solving complex problems are encouraged to apply, regardless of prior finance experience.
