CBIZ is looking for a Power BI Developer to join our development team and support the firm's Business Intelligence and Data Analytics reporting and dashboard initiatives. This role will also involve analyzing operational and financial information, creating Power BI visualizations/analytical models, and articulating operational results to help drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.

This is a hands-on role that requires proven experience developing Power BI reports/dashboards and writing SQL queries, including data modeling, DAX, and optimizing queries for performance.  Additionally, the candidate will have a strong understanding of financial reporting, preferably in a professional services/accounting advisory environment.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Work with internal business stakeholders to generate reports and dashboards.

  • Demonstrates a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and proactively addresses stakeholder concerns, maintaining consistency and reliability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities

  • Write and optimize SQL code to prepare, join, and validate data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and performance in reporting models.

  • Apply a strong understanding of modern data architectures such as Microsoft Fabric

  • Leverage Power BI and Alteryx to design dashboards and automate data workflows 

  • Design and test solutions.

  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research of information affecting financial and/or business processes.

  • Prepare and deliver descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytical insights as reports, ad-hoc queries, financial models, and Power BI dashboards for operational and management reporting at an enterprise scale.

  • Define KPIs/targets and monitor actions coming out of operational reviews to ensure continuous improvement in initiatives designed to drive firm profitability.

  • Apply data visualization, descriptive and summary statistical techniques for discovery and timely insights through Power BI and other business intelligence platforms.

  • Capable of communicating findings and trends based on dashboard data

  • Leverage internal and external data sources to gather relevant benchmarks for the CPA firm industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Power BI development experience 

  • BS degree, Accounting, Finance or IT focus preferred.

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, preferably in a professional services/accounting advisory environment.

  • Experience writing and troubleshooting DAX calculations 

  • Proficiency in Power BI and data tools (SQL Server, SSIS).

  • Must possess analytical skills and be able to comprehend, manipulate, and interpret statistical data.

  • Ability to present to C-level team members.
