Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer Intern to support our manufacturing operations at our unidirectional (UD) textiles production facility. This internship offers hands-on experience in a protective ballistics-focused manufacturing environment, where you will work alongside experienced engineers to improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize production efficiency for our UD fabric lines.


Key Responsibilities

· Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of manufacturing processes to improve safety, consistency, availability, yield and throughput.

· With assistance from engineers, create and update standard operating procedures and work instructions.

· Assist in developing and implementing lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping)

· Collect and analyze production data (throughput, cycle times, scrap rates, OEE) and present findings to engineering teams

· Participate in ergonomic assessments for manual handling tasks (roll handling, creel loading, etc.)

Key Qualifications/Requirements

· Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. on a college degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a closely related field.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools

· Excellent oral and written communication skill

· Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task

· Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools for facility/process layout

· Exposure to composites, technical textiles, or polymer processing is a plus

· Basic knowledge of statistical analysis tools (Minitab, R, or Python)


Working Conditions

This position will spend time in both the office and manufacturing environment. Ability to stand and walk on a production floor for extended periods is required. Willingness to wear required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves). Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
