Key Responsibilities
• Lead ISTA transit testing (ISTA 1A/2A/3A/3B/3E) including drop, vibration, compression, and environmental conditioning.
• Collaborate with international vendors and domestic to ensure packaging meets performance specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate PPAP/FAI, approval of samples, and production trials with overseas suppliers.
• Analyze packaging failures across LTL and small parcel networks; drive CAPA and root cause investigations using 8D, DMAIC, and 5 Why.
• Partner with DC Operations, Transportation, and Logistics to align packaging performance to distribution hazards.
• Develop and maintain performance specifications including ECT, BCT, burst strength, palletization, and cushioning requirements.
• Build dashboards to track ISTA pass rates, vendor PPM, transit damage, and cost-of-poor-quality.
• Support new product launches ensuring packaging readiness and qualification, Monitoring performance post launch.
• Work Closely with DC Operations and Transportation to Identify opportunities for packing and other carrier improvements
Competencies and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-7+ years in packaging quality or engineering with hands-on ISTA testing experience.
  • Knowledge of LTL and small parcel carrier networks (FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS).
  • Experience coordinating with international suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel/Power BI/Tableau.
  • Experience with SPC, AQL, CAPA, and quality systems.

This position will be onsite Monday - Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
The base pay range for this position will be 57,000 to 75,000 annually. The exact pay will be determined by multiple factors unique to each individual, including years of experience, certifications, and the specific location of the job. Rates may vary in other areas due to differing labor costs.
