Job description

Overview

Join a well-established clinical setting as a Lab Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations through routine testing and specimen handling. This position offers an opportunity to develop hands-on skills in a collaborative environment dedicated to quality patient care and laboratory excellence.

Responsibilities

Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory department.

Perform routine instrument maintenance on various lab equipment.

Carry out laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording temperature charts, and managing specimen storage and retrieval.

Prepare reagents and media required for testing procedures.

Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples into cups, checking for clots, inoculating, and slide preparation.

Conduct quality assurance and quality control duties as assigned.

Resolve pending lists and find missing samples to ensure sample integrity.

Decontaminate work areas regularly and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.

Change gas cylinders and maintain departmental records.

Follow all PPE protocols and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs efficiently.

Dispose of biohazardous materials properly.

Complete required training and competency checklists to stay current with laboratory procedures.
