Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Language Labs department on the Gainesville campus. Under the supervision of the Language Lab Coordinator, the assistant facilitates workshops and completes assessments and feedback for 1001/1002 language lab activities in Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. The assistant also provides tutoring and speaking practice support in additional languages including Italian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Korean, while helping students with lab technology and course-related projects. The position also includes administrative and clerical duties to support smooth lab operations.
Responsibilities
  • The student's duties include assessing student lab activities and workshop submissions, assisting students with language and technology questions related to lab assignments, and providing extra help and tutoring as needed.
  • They also help maintain a clean and welcoming lab environment and complete special projects or tasks as requested by faculty or the Language Lab Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Applicants must be able to remain calm, friendly, and professional in busy or stressful situations while providing excellent customer service.
  • They must be willing to learn new software applications to assist students with assignments.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Candidates must have completed the 2002 level in the language they plan to support, or demonstrate equivalent proficiency through an in-person interview or faculty evaluation.
