Job description

Position Summary:

The Quality Inspector Lead coordinates and monitors the quality inspections on the production floor to ensure employee safety as well as meeting on-time delivery commitments. This person performs quality inspection in multiple areas in production per documented procedures. They are responsible for addressing equipment, process and employee issues by analyzing possible causes to determine the most appropriate corrective actions and are expected to provide leadership and training to Quality Inspectors as needed. This position will work Monday to Thursday and will report to the Quality Supervisor.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform multiple assembly tasks within production manufacturing operations, including tasks such as non-routine and non-repetitive production mechanical, assembly, quality assurance, inventory tracking and preparation of shipments.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Review and complete quality inspection forms.
  • Perform at a high level of quality and productivity.
  • Practice proper cleanroom and / or controlled environment standards.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of all inspection processes in quality control and regularly audits compliance with all specifications.
  • Ensure all Quality Inspectors always maintain safety requirements.
  • Actively promotes and drives a culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be crossed trained at multiple quality inspections.
  • Identify continuous improvement ideas to improve quality yields and productivity.
  • Assist in developing written quality inspection instructions with safety and quality in mind.
  • Properly train other personnel on quality inspection processes, following writing procedures and use.
  • Complete inventory tracking on a weekly basis.
  • Scan documents once they documents have been verified.
  • Ensure material is in place for quality inspections.
  • When necessary, provide feedback to and assist Quality Inspectors to ensure a high level of team productivity, quality, and yields in their work area.
  • Provide work directions to the Quality Inspectors.
  • Initiating a Nonconformance (NCR) record by capturing quality issues, entering accurate data into the system, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze the inspector resources to establish the best way to meet inspection plan and determine if overtime or other resources may be necessary.
  • When issues arise, take appropriate action using sound judgment to decide when and how to resolve them.
  • Notify Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager of any people, material, process, and scheduling issues that need higher level resolution.
  • Provide timely status reports on schedule adherence, yields, material issues, equipment issues, and unplanned downtime.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with employees, peers, and managers withing Spectrum Plastics Group.
  • Interface with other departments as necessary to ensure a high level of professionalism through effective communication.
  • Assign housekeeping duties and production assignments.
  • Ensure line clearance activities are taking place.
  • Other duties as assigned. ย 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical device manufacturing or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a cleanroom and / or controlled manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a team.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft 365 products.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents. such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure instructions in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out detailed written and verbal work instructions in English.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to handle small parts or packaging components, in some cases with the use of tweezers and microscope.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This job requires specific vision abilities, including unaided eye inspection, use of a magnification lamp, and examination through a microscope.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and heat.
