QinetiQ US is looking to hire an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to support production efforts at our Lorton, VA Headquarters. The selected candidate will work closely with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and the engineering department, to facilitate and manage successful supplier partnerships. They will provide engineering and technical assistance to suppliers and manufacturing as required and will work with suppliers and internal groups to address corrective actions as appropriate.


  • Oversee and assess the production & Quality Management System at suppliers, as it pertains to supplier quality and performance.
  • Define and improve required documentation and activities as needed to ensure compliance to flow-down requirements from customers and internal design requirements.
  • Coordinate problem resolution with the engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.
  • Review program contractual and drawing requirements and support inspection activities.
  • Review supplier processes, equipment, and capabilities to ensure requirements can be achieved. This may include soft-goods, plastics, electronics, and metals.
  • Support assigned programs in accordance with detailed Quality Plans.
  • Support AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) and perform audits.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including root cause analysis, corrective action processes, and managing supplier waivers, deviations, and discrepancy reporting.
  • Drive supplier corrective action and response (SCAR) process by investigating trends, issuing corrective actions to resolve material issues, reviewing Engineering Changes, and sharing lessons learned across the team.
  • Facilitate and execute Corrective Action/Preventative Action Processes (CAPA).
  • Capture and combine inspection data for maintenance and customer distribution, support inspection personnel across various disciplines, conduct inspections on assemblies and materials, and verify product conformance to specifications and tests.
  • Establish inspection procedures for soft goods, identify equipment needs and train inspectors.

  • 4+ years of Quality Engineering or related experience.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related engineering field.
  • Experience flowing down Source Control requirements to Suppliers
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 Industry Standard and ensuring suppliers have control plans and inspection processes that are capable of meeting product requirements.
  • Experience with driving supplier performance and evaluation.
  • Experience with Statement of Work (SOW), quality clauses, intellectual property (IP), and government regulations such as ITAR, etc..
  • Familiarity with ASTM D 6193 Standard Practice for Stitches and Seams.
  • Knowledgeable in AS9100 / ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships with suppliers, customers and internal teams.

  • Background in DOD sub-tier supplier management
  • Familiarity with metal forming, welding, coatings, or electromechanical assembly
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (aerospace, defense, medical device, or similar)
  • Experience with ERP or quality systems is a plus
