We are looking for a highly hands-on and process-focused Quality Engineer to drive continuous quality improvement within our internal fabrication operations, specifically supporting our ThermoDrive Belt Assembly facility in Harahan, LA. This role is crucial for maximizing product quality, minimizing internal defects, and ensuring a world-class customer experience. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on quality support for plant operations by responding to daily production and customer quality issues, managing non-conforming materials, and providing timely dispositions and reviews.
  • Develop and maintain quality tools, processes, and systems (including PFMEA, control plans, SPC activities) that support consistent fabrication performance and product quality.
  • Lead structured problem-solving and root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to address customer complaints, audit findings, and internal quality issues, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze and report quality performance metrics (cost of poor quality, customer complaints, non-conformances, scrap) and implement improvements through data-driven decisions and collaboration with Operations and Engineering.
  • Champion quality improvement projects that support organizational critical success factors and objectives.
  • Build quality system documentation and workflows appropriate for an environment that is scalable, lean, and not burdened by unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Research new quality technologies and implement into our environment. Stay current with industry best practices and assist in adopting internally.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and manufacturing readiness activities to ensure effective transition into production.
  • Provide leadership by guiding and supporting the team to independently assess priorities, identify risks, and drive actions to closure, while effectively partnering with remote leaders and cross-functional teams.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support plant and organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Plastic, Industrial Technology, or equivalent technical field)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Quality or Process Engineer in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Technical Expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on process improvement on the factory floor
  • Strong statistical analysis skills (including Process Capability Studies, Gage R&R, ANOVA) and data visualization (e.g., Pareto Charts)
  • Skilled in applying project management principles, ensuring alignment with timelines and business priorities
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Power BI, InfinityQS, Statistical Software (Minitab, JMP)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems

  • A high level of comfort working directly with production operators and supervision
  • An enthusiasm for creating sustainable quality solutions
  • Demonstrated record of self-management, teamwork, and trust
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering groups, operations groups, customers, suppliers, and contractors
