About the role
The Quality Engineer is responsible for executing and supporting quality assurance and control processes within ZM Trucks' commercial vehicle manufacturing operations, including Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly.
This role focuses on in-process quality control, structured problem-solving, supplier quality support, and continuous improvement to ensure that vehicles and components meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
In-Process & Product Quality Control
โ€ข Execute quality control activities across:
o Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), End-of-Line (EOL) inspection and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)
โ€ข Ensure compliance with inspection standards, control plans, and work instructions
โ€ข Monitor production quality performance and escalate issues in a timely manner
โ€ข Verify product conformity against specifications prior to release
Problem Solving & Corrective Actions
โ€ข Lead and support structured problem-solving activities using:
o 8D Methodology, 5 Why's Analysis and Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams
โ€ข Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for internal defects and process deviations
โ€ข Implement and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Process Quality & Continuous Improvement
โ€ข Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
โ€ข Support implementation of:
o Error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions, Process standardization and optimization and Waste reduction initiatives (lead principles)
โ€ข Drive improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduction of rework and scrap
Quality Documentation & Core Tools
โ€ข Develop, update, and maintain:
o Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Inspection standards and checklists
โ€ข Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities
โ€ข Participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) preparation and documentation
Supplier Quality Support
โ€ข Support incoming material quality control and supplier issue resolution
โ€ข Assist with: Supplier inspections and process audits, and Supplier corrective action requests (SCAR) and follow-up
โ€ข Monitor supplier quality performance, including PPM and defect trends
Quality Data & Reporting
โ€ข Collect, analyze, and report quality data, including:
o Defect Rates, PPM Metrics, and Scrap and Rework Data
โ€ข Prepare daily and weekly quality performance reports
โ€ข Support KPI tracking and continuous improvement initiatives
Audit & Compliance Support
โ€ข Support internal, external, and certification audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, regulatory)
โ€ข Ensure compliance with established procedures, standards, and documentation requirements
โ€ข Maintain audit readiness and support corrective action closure
Cross-Functional Collaboration
โ€ข Collaborate closely with:
o Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain
โ€ข Support real-time resolution of quality issues on the shop floor
โ€ข Provide feedback to improve product design and manufacturing processes
Required Skills/Abilities

Education and Experience
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

โ€ข Six Sigma Green Belt (or in progress) a plus.
