Job description

The principle responsibility of this position is to develop and implement systems to ensure products or services are designed and produced to meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations. The Supplier Quality Engineer supports the supply chain process to ensure parts, components, and deliverables meet the engineering agreed drawings. The SQE will visit suppliers frequently to follow up on PPAP's, SCARS, and root cause investigations. The SQE is the window person between IHI Turbo and the supplier with regards to quality acceptance and part quality.

The SQE is part of a cross-functional team with other business and engineering disciplines. Supplier Quality Engineers establish the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control for the system. The SQE provides independent oversight and review of the project deliverables throughout the lifecycle.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will have a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will have a fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation with respect to domestic and international standards or requirements.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will have a thorough understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will be able to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will be able to plan, control, and ensure product application, including design, manufacturing and construction and supplier performance is achieved while leading the efforts of other departmental Engineers.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will have thorough knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, systems design, assessment tools, and reporting.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will have excellent problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of management and planning tools, quality tools, preventive, and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will give direction and support for SCARs, procurement activities, and supplier on site visits; 20~25% of the time.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will support the transition of new projects to production.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will carry forward lessons learned to new projects by supporting customer quality issues.
  • The Supplier Quality Engineer will support the quality management system by improving quality objectives.
