Job description

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer I supports the Quality Assurance team in ensuring products and manufacturing processes meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and AS9100D standards. This role assists with inspections, testing, audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives for commercial and defense-related products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of an AS9100D-compliant Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist with the development and revision of inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformity.
  • Support product and process testing activities and document results accurately.
  • Maintain quality records, including Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Participate in internal audits and support customer and certification audits.
  • Assist with root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective action activities.
  • Track quality metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams during New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Support PPAP and FAI activities as required.
  • Assist with supplier quality initiatives, including evaluations, corrective actions, and performance monitoring.
  • Help investigate and resolve customer quality concerns and warranty claims.
  • Follow company policies, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality-related environment.
  • Basic understanding of quality systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with AS9100D, ISO-based quality systems, and audit processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and experience with ERP/QMS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Exposure to quality tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, 8D, SPC, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and FAIRs.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense industry quality requirements.
  • Experience using precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators.
