Job description

Make an Impact With Us
At Vallourec, quality is built into everything we do - from the way we operate to the way we serve our customers. We are seeking a Quality Engineer (QE) to strengthen our plant-level quality processes, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our products consistently meet customer and industry standards. This role is ideal for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys collaborating across teams and making meaningful improvements on the shop floor.
Your Role at a Glance
As a Quality Engineer, you will be a key contributor within the plant's Quality organization, partnering closely with Process Engineering, Operations, and OpEx to improve performance and customer outcomes.
  • Embed safety into daily work routines and support engineered solutions that enable "fail-safe" operations.
  • Translate customer feedback and field issues into actionable, plant-level improvement plans.
  • Lead and manage structured 8D problem-solving efforts to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Serve as a plant owner of the 8D process, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze NQC and Claims data to identify trends and support targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with shop floor teams, Process Engineers, and OpEx Engineers to reduce quality defects.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of leading indicators to guide data-driven countermeasures.
  • Support internal audits and ensure compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality Systems to strengthen in-plant routines and change management practices.
  • Coach teams at all levels to reinforce quality discipline, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Support deployment and sustainment of the Drive+ Quality Technical System, including process validation and system effectiveness checks.

What Sets You Apart
We're looking for a quality professional who combines technical expertise with strong collaboration skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality role.
  • Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma).
  • Experience supporting or maintaining quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, API Q1, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a plant environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering or quality-related discipline)
  • CQE or equivalent certification preferred
  • ISO / API Q1 auditor or lead auditor certification preferred

What Powers Your Performance
Success in this role comes from mindset as much as skill. We value team members who:
  • Prioritize safety and quality in every decision
  • Take initiative and ownership of problems and solutions
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively
  • Embrace continuous improvement and positive change
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and pride in their work
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Learn from feedback and help others do the same

Work Environment & Travel
  • Primarily sedentary work with routine interaction on the shop floor
  • Occasional travel (~10%) for customer support, benchmarking, and cross-functional projects

How We Support Your Success
We're committed to helping you thrive - professionally and personally. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Company-Paid Life Insurance & Short/Long-Term Disability
  • 401(k): 4.5% company match with no vesting period
  • Paid Parental Leave (birthing, non-birthing, and adoption)
  • 10 Paid Holidays + 1 Floating Holiday
  • Paid Vacation Time
  • Performance-Based Bonus Program
  • Tuition Reimbursement

Safety isn't negotiable - it's how we operate. Every process and improvement is guided by our commitment to protect our people, deliver quality without compromise, and build trust with our customers.
