Position Overview
The Quality Engineer coordinates and implements effective processes, product, and component control plans. Utilizing basic 6 Sigma tools such as: Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Process Mapping, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other basic statistical techniques to analyze, understand, and reduce process variation.
Areas of Focus
The Quality Engineer is responsible for development and implementation of product and process quality plans based on sound quality 6 Sigma principals, including control plans, procedures, inspection plans, and other quality documentation.
Responsibilities
β€’ Use total quality management (TQM) tools and approaches to other company departments for analytical and reporting processes within respective department.
β€’ Conduct quality audits to ensure continuous control over materials/products/processes, as well as conformance to business processes affecting quality.
β€’ Drive, lead, and mentor process improvement activities, along with participation on teams.
β€’ Customer Complaint Process; Trend analysis, Monthly Reports, corrective actions
β€’ Responsible for the supplier quality performance for all purchased parts for company production use.
β€’ Develop and conduct required quality training programs to key personnel.
β€’ Implement and follow quality system standards, policies, and procedures.
β€’ Support engineering efforts of analytical laboratory equipment and assist in the development and validation of manufacturing equipment, and processes.
β€’ Drive process improvement and developing problem solving plans thru 6 Sigma principals
β€’ Development and review of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) plans
β€’ Development and implementation of sampling plans for production, qualification, and validation of products/processes
Basic Qualifications
β€’ Associates/Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline and/or a science discipline and/or minimum of 5 years related experience
β€’ Ability to interpret drawings and first article inspection results
β€’ Highly motivated self-starter
β€’ Must be outgoing in personality with strong relationship skills for customers, colleagues and senior management personnel
β€’ Must be able to work with minimum supervision
β€’ High standard of business and personal ethics
β€’ Must be very comfortable with Microsoft Office Applications; MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Access or equivalent, and Minitab
β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
β€’ General understanding of Lean Principals
β€’ General understanding with Cost of Quality (COQ) principals (Scrap/rework/repair)
β€’ Basic 6 Sigma Skills
β€’ General understanding of Management Quality Systems (e.g. ISO 9000, QS 9000, etc.)
