Job description

What you'll do:
Primary Function:
Provide support to assigned Arecibo's manufacturing operational area(s). This role focuses on daily quality performance, root-cause elimination, and continuous improvement across the areas of support.The Senior Quality Engineer works closely with Operations, other cross-functional team members and suppliers to ensure stable processes, robust control plans, and reliable product/components performance. Also addressing corrective actions to DMR received from customers, quality controls implementations (PFMEA, Control Plans & Pre-Controls), data collection on TDM (Test Data Management) or FAS (Final Audit System), and continuous Improvements Initiatives on the Products/Components or Manufacturing process.
Define, coordinates, lead and execute projects to improve Quality and plant indicators, such as scrap, DPPMs, warranty claims, CONC, LPA, capacity increase and safety improvements. Use A3 documents to record progress of the project and oversee in overall the High 5 metrics.
This position will supervise Quality personnel and coordinate their activities and will manage the inventories in the Inspection and non-conforming material areas.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide direct support to daily operations-respond to line issues, contain defects, and drive corrective actions..
2. Develop, evaluates manufacturing improvements processes based on the findings from Inspection processes or Customer findings.
3. Designs/maintains layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency of Quality laboratories.
4. Generates, review, update and develop Standard Work Instruction, Visual aids, and MIL's.
5. Nonconformances evaluation and disposition on assigned manufacturing area operations.
6. Train and certify manufacturing operators & inspectors on the workstation assigned.
7. Develop & update visual aids identified from the Lessons Learned from Haina or other customer(s) parts evaluation.
8. Support document changes via MCO or ECO process integration/implementation.
9. Analyzes and perform manufacturing parts integration process via PPAP Processes.
10. Provide guidance for the proper selection of inspection equipment and tools.
11. Prepare capital budget for inspection equipment, standards, gages, fixtures. Justify, manage, and implement capital projects including appropriation generation, establish requirements, getting quotes, placing orders, monitor/reports progress and ensure the completion of projects.
12. Create, design & buy special tools for new parts.
13. Keep the 5S requirements in the Quality labs, QDA's (non-conforming areas) and office areas.
14. Responsible for sponsor and participate on Lean / Kaizen Events in manufacturing area.
15. Monitor manufacturing processes/performance and provide/implement corrective actions using Problem Solving tools on issues reported.
16. Analyze equipment/processes using six sigma tools in order to identify and implements improvements (e.g., MSA).
17. Lead scrap reduction, FPY improvement, and yield enhancement projects.
18. Perform safety analysis, safety inspections and remediation projects in coordination with the MESH department for the production operations specially but not limited to the assigned manufacturing area.
19. Promote and promulgate all MESH Process and Policies to all the employees under his/her supervisor and ensure that they are being performed at his/her area.
20. Participate in accidents investigation (EH&S) assigned on EHS Alerts.
21. Evaluate and select new technologies/equipment to improve quality, performance and safety.
22. Manage and generates Job Safety Analysis (JSA) of manufacturing processes.
23. Answer CAPA's (8D'S) in a timely manner (take Containment, Corrective & Preventive actions, Root cause, actions plan, etc.).
24. Participate in internal audits and support external audits (ISO, EQMS, MESH, etc..).
25. Supervise the Quality Technician and Inspectors of the assigned manufacturing area. Must complete payroll and coordinate and approve vacations of direct reports.
26. Maintain and update Control Plans, PFMEAs, MSA data, and inspection standards.
27. Make assessment on Nonconforming material at the QDA locations.
28. Review and approval of material deviations / TCR (Temporary Changes Request).
29. Provide feedback to Arecibo team for conditions detected at Arecibo that need changes or corrective action. Formalize the notification using CAPA, CQM or DMR.
30. Evaluation and approval of PPAP submitted from Suppliers or internally from the assigned manufacturing area.
Qualifications:
Requirements / Specialized Knowledge:
• Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting manufacturing operations.
• Strong background & knowledge in Quality tools and processes.
• Exposure to support of internal/external audits.
• Availability to work extended hours when required.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Fully Bilingual - English\Spanish Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• PC [proficiency including knowledge of MS windows operating systems, MS Office and Minitab.
• EHS practices, regulations, and procedures experience.
Specialized Knowledge:
• Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods and processes to reduce scrap, improve yields and internal and external DPPMs.
• Analyzing and planning work force utilization.
• Development and implementation of manufacturing instructions.
• Support to new production parts integrations.
• Provide guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools.
• Identification and selection of new technology to improve quality and performance.
• Proactive attitude towards problem solving and resolving issues that may affect plant/ employee's health, safety, and operations.
• Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting manufacturing operations or related.
• Strong background & knowledge in Feeders compression & injection Molding, and/or Stamping and/or Plating processes.
• Prioritizes, considers alternatives, and responds quickly and effectively to unexpected and rapidly changing conditions.
• Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods and processes to reduce scrap, improve yields and internal/external DPPMs.
• Analyzing and planning work force utilization.
• Development and implementation of manufacturing instructions.
• Manufacturing processes continuous improvements.
• Experience leading cost savings initiatives and projects.
• Experience justifying, managing, and implementing capital projects.
• Experience in the integration/implementation of new tools.
• Provide guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools.
