Job description

Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking an experienced Weld Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.

As a Welding Specialist at our growing La Porte facility, this position will be responsible for improvements and control of weld repair/fabrication of super alloy castings as well as ensuring all welds meet Class “A” requirements.

Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Train new production TIG welders.
  • Monitor workmanship and continuous performance of current welders.
  • Manage welder certification and biannual recertification program
  • Plan and execute repairs on potentially scrap castings.
  • Monitor weld quality yields.
  • Develop new welding techniques and equipment improvements for production applications.
  • Maintain weld wire and weld cap control and inventory.
  • Maintain inventory of training and certification materials.
  • Maintain and write work instructions.
  • Maintain personal welder certification.
  • Support 3rd party reaccreditation audits, including preparation.
  • Purchase materials as needed to support tools and fixturing for the welding process.

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology, Industrial Technology, or other welding related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar process related to TIG welding.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in training TIG welders.
  • Experience in TIG welding materials including nickel, cobalt, or stainless-steel alloys
  • ​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.
  • Advanced TIG welding experience including the ability to train personnel.
  • Good PC skills, written & verbal communication skills, problem solving, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to think through complex development projects and identify gaps in plans, risks, and opportunities with the boldness to elevate when necessary.
  • Must be self-driven with outstanding organization skills, self-discipline, and an acute sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in all Office 365 applications.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
