Summary:
 
We are seeking a Quality Control Chemist / Associate Scientist to perform routine chemical and/or microbiological testing in a pharmaceutical laboratory environment. The role will support testing of raw materials, packaging components, finished products, stability samples, production intermediates, and environmental samples using established and validated analytical methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in analytical chemistry, laboratory practices, and pharmaceutical quality requirements, with exposure to techniques such as HPLC, GC, LC/MS, dissolution, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine chemical and physical testing of pharmaceutical raw materials, packaging components, finished products, stability, microbiological, and production samples.
  • Execute validated and compendial analytical methods for strength, impurities, identity, and dissolution testing.
  • Perform analytical testing using HPLC, GC, LC/MS, dissolution, spectroscopy, and traditional wet chemistry techniques.
  • Perform required daily instrument calibrations and verifications.
  • Review analytical results and recognize out-of-specification (OOS), unexpected, or non-routine results.
  • Accurately document laboratory testing, observations, and results in accordance with established procedures and systems.
  • Communicate analytical results and potential issues to appropriate teams.
  • Assist with regulatory documentation and other technical communications as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of SOPs and laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation, testing materials, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Clean and maintain HPLC and dissolution systems following use.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with SOPs, GMP, GLP, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain required training and compliance status.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology.
  • Previous experience is not required but laboratory, pharmaceutical, or analytical testing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of instrumental analytical technologies and qualitative/quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis, with experience using techniques such as HPLC, GC, LC/MS, dissolution, spectroscopy, and/or wet chemistry preferred.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical quality, GMP/GLP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and scientific problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize, evaluate, and communicate OOS, unexpected, or non-routine results.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical procedures, SOPs, and applicable regulations, while accurately documenting and communicating laboratory results.
  • Basic mathematical and data-analysis skills, including calculations related to test reliability, variance, and correlation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a laboratory team.
  • Ability to perform prolonged laboratory, computer, and equipment-related activities, including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching as required.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing approximately 10–35 lbs.
  • Ability to wear required laboratory and personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, safety shoes, and other protective equipment as required.
