Quality Engineer

FULL TIME West Point, MS, US

Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving overall product and process quality within the manufacturing plant while serving as the primary customer interface for quality related matters. This role provides hands on support to production operations, leads root cause investigations, mentors quality team members, and ensures compliance with ISO and MIL requirements.

The position requires a strong technical leader who can operate effectively on the plant floor while also managing customer communications and driving measurable quality improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for all customer correspondence relative to quality objectives, quality Provide daily quality support to production operations.
  • Lead 8D investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and reduce scrap, rework, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Manage non-conforming material process and participate in MRB activities.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Support APQP / PPAP activities for new product launches.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and correspondence.
  • Track and report open issues (days open, quantity open/closed, corrective action status).
  • Facilitate communication between leadership, customers (USG), and plant operations.
  • Mentor and support quality team members and lead cross-functional problem-solving teams.
  • Generate and maintain Quality Plans in accordance with ISO and MIL requirements.
  • Support QMS implementation, maintenance, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred, though extensive experience may meet the educational requirement.
  • At least 8 years of Engineering and Quality Assurance experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of core quality tools (MSA, PFMEA, Control Plans, LPAs, SPC) and proficient use of problem-solving tools including GD&T, Metrology / CMM practices, Shainin, DFSS, Ishikawa Diagrams, 3L 5Why, 8D, etc.
  • Quality certification preferred
