Sorenson Engineering is seeking a candidate with experience in manufacturing engineering, with CAD CAM development, CNC Programming, and training experience.
Summary:
Responsible for planning, developing, designing, reviewing, and validating new designs and process improvements/optimizations. Evaluates and continuously improve active production processes and equipment. Responsible for providing technical knowledge and support for production operations. Collaborates with organizational leaders and customers.
Level I
Provides engineering support and expertise for production operations across the entire facility. Using established design principles, develops routine tooling and/or standardized software and assists in improving processes. Becomes familiar with design and development tools, Sorenson Engineering (SEi) processes, and manufacturing standards.
Level II
In addition to Level I responsibilities, executes engineering projects as a team member with clear direction from senior engineers and senior management. Analyzes processes and provide metrics supporting process improvements and new designs. Has a strong understanding of the various SEi processes and manufacturing standards.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provides R&D for prototype equipment, assembly or tools for production and quality processes.
  • Establishes methods of manufacturing for production of product.
  • Uses engineering principles in part production, assembly, tooling, design and manufacturing. Knowledge of design, tools, materials, procedures, measurement instruments and equipment involved for the production of product to ensure SE Quality objectives.
  • Familiar with the chemical composition, structure and properties of various materials used in production and design.
  • Develops, documents and implements engineering / production process capabilities and techniques needed for production operations.
  • Provides regular engineering updates to Senior Management.
  • Leverage ERP tools as they apply to engineering, production and procurement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Provides daily engineering report.
  • Special Assignments as requested by the supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance. Competent in the use of engineering software. Familiar with technical standards, GD&T symbols, statistical quality control, units of measurement, and notation systems. Able to interpret instructions both written and oral. Able to work in a team environment to solve technical issues. Able to communicate technical information effectively in English.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or similar required. 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Demands: Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the plant; must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Work Environment: Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.

In accordance with California law, the salary range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of the base compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
