Location: Food Manufacturing Facility - Bronx, NY
Reports To: Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring food safety and product quality throughout the
manufacturing and packaging process. This role ensures that all products meet company specifications,
regulatory requirements, and customer standards.
The technician performs in-process inspections, verifies labeling and packaging accuracy, monitors production
activities, and documents quality control checks to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices
(GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and applicable food safety regulations.
This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, and
effective communication with production staff to address quality issues in real time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Quality Control Technician will perform routine quality and food safety verification activities, including but
not limited to:
Product and Packaging Verification
  • Verify that the correct food components are plated in each meal according to production specifications.
  • Inspect finished meals to ensure proper appearance, portion size, and product integrity.
  • Verify that product labels are accurate and compliant with production specifications.
  • Confirm that packaging and seal integrity meet quality standards.
  • Verify the correct number of units for each order.
  • Confirm that the Order Bag Label matches the Order Tote Label and production documentation.
  • Ensure proper lot coding and product traceability.

In-Process Quality Monitoring
  • Conduct routine quality checks during production to ensure compliance with company specifications.
  • Monitor production lines to verify that food safety and quality standards are being maintained.
  • Identify and document any non-conforming products or process deviations.
  • Place non-conforming product on hold and report issues to the FSQA management.

Food Safety & Compliance
  • Verify adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and facility food safety policies.
  • Assist with monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs) and other food safety verification activities when applicable.
  • Perform sanitation and hygiene compliance checks in production areas.
  • Support internal food safety programs and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Complete quality control inspection forms and maintain accurate records.
  • Document inspection results, deviations, corrective actions, and product holds.
  • Maintain organized and accurate quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assist in preparing documentation required for internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory
  • inspections.

Sampling and Testing (if applicable)
  • Collect product samples for quality evaluation, retention samples, or laboratory testing.
  • Conduct visual and sensory evaluations of products when required.
  • Support environmental monitoring and verification programs as directed.

Communication and Continuous Improvement
  • Communicate quality concerns to production supervisors and management.
  • Provide real-time feedback to production staff to correct quality issues.
  • Assist with investigations of quality incidents or customer complaints.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to strengthen the food safety culture.

Additional Duties
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Follow all facility safety policies and food safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager.

Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or coursework in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field preferred but not required.

Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality control, or food safety preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated food production environment is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety principles.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, FSMA, or other food safety programs preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete documentation and maintain records.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, or quality management systems).

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated production environments for extended periods.

Work Environment
  • Majority of work performed in refrigerated production rooms and food manufacturing areas.
  • Fast-paced production environment with continuous activity.
  • Exposure to food production equipment, packaging machinery, and cold environments.
