Job description

OnScent is a manufacturer of fragrance and natural cosmetic solutions with world class natural, organic and sustainable materials for the fragrance, cosmetic and personal care industries. We are in search of Quality Control Technician who will be working out of our Norwood, NJ location.   The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and analyzing/testing the raw materials and finished products by performing basic sensory and/or analytical tests to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and product safety regulations. 


  • Receive and analyze raw materials comparing physicals, utilizing QC measurements such as: specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, GC to determine the physical characteristics of the sample.
  • Prioritize approvals dependent on daily order reports.
  • Receives and analyzes production finished product and samples to standard.
  • Generates COA’s and spec sheets for production samples, including cosmetic material samples.
  • Maintains QC laboratory in accordance with standard lab practices for cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintains computer files containing QC information in an organized.
  • Accurately record and communicate finished product rejections and information updates to key contacts in Quality, Operations, Purchasing and Customer Service as needed.
  • Utilize all types of communications include e-mail and maintain appropriate notes in system.
  • Collaborate with department leads to resolve problem samples and customer rejections.
  • Work with procurement when an out of spec fragrance is salvageable and provide rework direction.
  • Participate in customer complaint investigations related to product quality.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in QC.
  • Maintain work in a hygienic and safe work environment.
  • Provide backup and support to team members as required, including administrative QC tasks and other duties as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent
  • One to two years work experience in QC lab environment.
  • Must have basics of olfactive sensory evaluation - Compounding experience helpful
  • Strong knowledge of lab system, analytical equipment and instruments
  • Good safe handling knowledge working with chemical substances, hazardous material and regulations.

Position Salary:

$60k-$68k

This compensation range is presented in good faith for candidates that are hired in these roles will be presented a salary within the range stated on the job posting.
