ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Ready Mix Operations Manager, the Plant Manager - Winnipeg is accountable for the overall performance of the Dawson Road Ready-Mix location. This role leads and coordinates all on-site functions-including ready-mix plant operations, yard activities, fleet/driver interface, maintenance/shop, and third-party contractors-to deliver safe, reliable, high-quality concrete and exceptional customer service.

The Plant Manager builds a strong safety and performance culture, ensures regulatory and environmental compliance, and drives continuous improvement across production, logistics, maintenance reliability, cost control, and site image ("Plant Pride"). This role partners closely with Dispatch/Logistics, Quality Control, Sales/Customer Solutions, and Maintenance to execute daily plans and resolve service or production disruptions.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Oversee daily Ready-Mix operations, ensuring safe production, efficient yard operations, and reliable customer service.
  • Partner with Dispatch, Sales, Quality Control, and Maintenance to execute operational plans and resolve challenges quickly.
  • Ensure consistent product quality while identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational performance.
  • Lead planning and execution to ensure year-round operational readiness, including seasonal production demands and winter operations. 
  • Maximize equipment reliability through effective maintenance planning, asset stewardship, and timely issue resolution.
  • Manage operating costs, support budget performance, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental requirements while ensuring a clean, organized, and professional site.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and overall plant performance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar, or equivalent relevant combination of education and experience. Diploma Civil Engineering Technology considered an asset.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Business, Industrial, Construction Management.
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience in an industrial/construction environment. Experience with concrete production and delivery preferred. Leading in a unionized environment is an asset. General knowledge of mobile equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Required Training/Certifications: Class 1 or 3 driver's license with air endorsement and understanding of DOT requirements is preferred.
  • Required Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Command Batch, Track It, and Concrete Direct a benefit.
  • Travel Requirements: 10-15% of time spent away from the job's regular worksite and 5% of overnight travel.
