Job Description
MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE USA
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual. Inspects welded product and dimensions. Document inspections on required QC forms and drawings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Monitors welding on a spot check basis.
  • Monitors the welding procedures on a spot check basis (weekly) and records the results.
  • Responsible for completing the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Performs dimensional inspection and visual inspection (excluding finished welds).
  • Performs non-destructive testing (if qualified).
  • The technician takes notes of all non-executed processes of inspection, the Forman must inform the technician as to advancement of the work.
  • Inspects product for quality assurance standards using current methodology and
  • techniques.
  • Communicates routinely throughout the day with production leads, supervisors, and QA Manager.
  • Provides technical and operation support and/or services to ensure quality assurance standards are met in providing support to various project tasks.
  • Assesses and trains new employees as necessary.
  • Assists other employees in the performance of their duties as necessary.
  • Works under the direction of the QC Manager.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications
  • CWI Required
  • Five (5) years welding experience.
  • Possess math skills in imperial and metric systems.
  • Read measuring tape, add and subtract simple fractions and decimals.
  • Read and interpret work orders, job specification sheets and approved shop drawings.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Read and speak English
  • Experience in Structural Steel operations (preferred)
  • HS Diploma (preferred)

General office, production environment and plant operation. Daily exposure to computer display and shop environment.
