Quality Control Machinist Jobs in Virginia (NOW HIRING)

The Mechanical QC Technician performs precise dimensional measurements and visual inspections on disassembled electric motors and related components to determine required repairs and ensure compliance with specifications. This role uses a variety of measuring tools and inspection techniques to verify new and repaired parts, supports in-process quality surveillance, and authorizes completed motors for shipment while maintaining accurate, legible documentation.

• Perform detailed dimensional measurements and visual inspections of disassembled electric motors and associated parts to determine necessary repairs.
• Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, dial indicators, and other testing tools to perform highly accurate measurements of products.
• Verify new and repaired parts after machining against engineering drawings, blueprints, and specified requirements to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Conduct in-process surveillance during machining and assembly operations to confirm ongoing compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
• Release completed motors for shipment once all inspections and quality checks meet defined standards.
• Complete all required quality and inspection paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and legibly.
• Apply blueprint reading skills to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and technical requirements for inspection activities.
• Support quality control and quality assurance processes by identifying nonconformances and communicating findings to appropriate personnel.
• Use milling, lathe, boring mill, and other machining knowledge to understand manufacturing processes and assess part quality effectively.
• Follow established safety procedures and quality standards while working in a large industrial machining environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience using inside and outside micrometers, dial indicators, depth micrometers, and various other testing equipment.
• Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Strong quality control and quality assurance inspection experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Accurate and legible recordkeeping skills, including completion of inspection and quality documentation.
• Ability to work overtime as needed to support production and shipping schedules.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly in an industrial setting.
• Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy in measurements and documentation.
• Former mechanical technician experience from a military background is a definite plus.

• Experience with milling machines, lathes, and boring mills to support understanding of machining processes.
• background in quality inspection and quality control in a machining or motor repair environment.
• Familiarity with in-process inspection and final inspection procedures for industrial equipment.
• Experience working with large industrial equipment and components.
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey inspection findings and collaborate with production teams.

This role operates in a large industrial machining department that works on large electric motors and related equipment. You will work around milling machines, lathes, boring mills, and other heavy industrial machinery, using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment daily. The environment is hands-on and production-oriented, with the need to handle components weighing up to 50 pounds. Overtime may be required based on workload and production demands. Safety procedures and proper industrial attire are expected to ensure a safe and professional workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
