Job Description:
Penn Color is looking for a QC Technician - Dry to join our Quality Control team in Hatfield, PA. This role supports quality control operations by preparing test samples, operating lab-scale equipment, evaluating product quality, and recording accurate test results. This is an entry-level, hands-on role for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and interested in learning quality control processes in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
  • Accurately weigh and mix test materials according to standardized formulas and specifications.
  • Prepare test samples using lab-scale equipment such as 2-roll mills, extruders, and injection molders.
  • Learn and apply color evaluation techniques using spectrophotometer readings and visual inspection.
  • Record and enter test results into designated systems or databases with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate test results, observations, and concerns to the QC Lead, Trainer, or designated team members.
  • Maintain clean and organized equipment, laboratory areas, and workspaces to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform Melt Flow analysis and additional physical property testing to validate product performance.
  • Follow all safety procedures, SOPs, PPE requirements, and quality standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0 to 6 months of related experience preferred.
  • Basic office and computer skills for data entry, reporting, and communication.
  • Willingness to learn quality control testing methods, lab equipment, and color evaluation techniques.
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in hands-on equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well with leads, trainers, and team members in a fast-paced lab and production support environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Work is performed in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Regular standing for most of an 8-hour shift, with frequent walking, reaching, bending, and handling of test materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Regular lifting up to 50 pounds, including bags, containers, sample pans, and equipment parts.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending during sample preparation, equipment cleaning, or material retrieval.
  • Frequent use of lab-scale machinery such as 2-roll mills, extruders, injection molders, pneumatic cutters, melt indexers, and other test equipment.
  • May involve exposure to heat, equipment pinch points, pneumatic tools, solvents, fumes, dust irritants, sharp edges, and moving components.
  • Required PPE must be worn in designated areas, including safety glasses, heat-resistant gloves, lab coat, and any other required protection.
  • The QC Lab operates across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts with weekend rotations as required by production needs, typically two Saturdays per month.
