Quality Control Technician
Job Summary
Employee is responsible for sampling aggregates, ready mix concrete, and concrete masonry products to ensure product meets industry specifications and or project specific testing parameters. Successful candidate must be willing to learn to batch ready mix concrete, operate loaders and forklifts and perform needed production support and labor duties at various production facilities within the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge to ensure ethical behavior and adherence to safety standards as required by company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance is required.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Some night work may be required.
  • Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Must be self-motivated with a desire to learn, obtain industry certifications as needed.
  • Clear understanding or willingness to learn concrete production and testing procedures.
  • Clear understanding or willingness to learn aggregate production and testing procedures.

  • Willingness to learn to operate, maintain and support ready mix production facilities
  • Willingness to learn to operate various equipment to include but not limited to forklifts and loaders.

  • Partners and coordinates daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel and crewmembers, as well as external customers to include but not limited to project contractors and or inspectors to obtain necessary mix design criteria and samples to meet project specific specifications.
  • Must partner with other members of staff reporting to quality control management to ensure quality control specifications are met, as well as daily production schedules/estimates.
  • Ability to prepare and submit proper documentation to the appropriate quality control personnel, internal or external on a timely basis.
  • Must understand how to evaluate test results and address problems when they arise.
  • Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
  • Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Must pass drug test and background check.

Requirements / Education / Experience
  • Previous experience in the concrete industry preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Obtain industry certifications as required for the position.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to operate a ยพ ton pickup truck with a 20' trailer.
  • Knowledge and daily use of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
