In Stamford, Spartech manufactures acrylic sheets that are used in the aerospace as well as in security (bullet-resistance), displays, acrylic furniture and laser protection amongst other applications. Our products can be seen in many airplanes, fighter jet canopies, helicopters, in the banks for protection at the teller windows, tanning beds, etc.. We have a unique process that utilizes technology, as well as the skills and knowledge of our employees, to make quality products. We strive to supply the highest quality acrylic sheet with the best possible service.

The Lab Technician is responsible for performing quality control testing and inspection of raw materials and finished products in an Acrylic manufacturing facility. This role supports production operations by ensuring materials and products meet internal specifications and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Operate laboratory testing equipment and computerized/electronic devices used in quality control and technical services.
  • Perform routine calibration of laboratory instruments following documented procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and testing on in-process and finished products.
  • Record, analyze, and report test data with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Follow all documented testing and inspection procedures to ensure consistent product evaluation.
  • Provide timely feedback to Quality Management regarding product quality issues or trends.
  • Maintain compliance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental guidelines.
  • Follow company operating procedures, policies, and benefit rules.
  • Keep the laboratory and work area clean, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Perform calibration processes on equipment.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) preferred.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma; relevant college coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years of laboratory or testing experience in a production or manufacturing environment (Experience in a chemical laboratory is preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with calibration equipment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Comprehension of applicable testing methods, procedures, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of ASTM test specifications and ability to comprehend specification requirements.
  • Ability to operate lab equipment devices, and accurately record, analyze, and communicate results.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
